Classification Of Anilox Rolls
Jun 04, 2021
Anilox rollers are classified according to the materials coated or sprayed on their surfaces. There are mainly two types of chrome-plated anilox rollers and ceramic anilox rollers.
The processing of chrome-plated anilox rolls The processing of chrome-plated anilox rolls usually includes three processes: pre-processing, anilox processing and post-processing of the roll body.
The laser engraved ceramic anilox roller adopts a plasma method to melt the metal oxide (Al2O3 or Cr2O3) and spray it on the surface of the metal smooth roller to form a high-hardness, strong and dense ceramic film with the metal roller. After grinding , Polishing, and then use a laser beam to engrave ink pockets on the ceramic surface.
The inventory of anilox rollers in the printing plant grows with the development of the business. In order to facilitate the effective selection of the most suitable anilox rollers according to the requirements of different prints, a list should be made for the inventory of anilox rollers.
If this list is classified only by LPI, only the number of lines of the anilox roller can be known, but the cell volume (BCM) of the anilox roller cannot be known, and the necessary parameters cannot be provided when selecting it. For example, the same 800LPI anilox roller, some may be 1.0BCM, while others may be 1.8 or greater BCM, the amount of ink transfer is very different, so the inventory of the anilox roller is not specified In addition to the LPI of the anilox roll, its BCM parameters must also be noted separately.
In addition, due to the long period of use of the anilox roller and the quality of maintenance, the surface or wall of the anilox roller is worn or blocked by ink residues, and the printing effect is also very different. Therefore, it should also be noted when preparing the inventory of anilox rolls.
When ordering an anilox roll from the manufacturer, the user should clearly specify the processing parameters, including: lines per inch, cell volume, engraving angle and unengraved sideband width (if mentioned). In addition, due to the inevitable differences in processing, it is best to order processing in batches even if the same LPI and BCM are processed for anilox rolls.
